HAILEE STEINFELD IS FAMOUS 19TH CENTURY POET IN EMILY 'DICKINSON' PERIOD SET TV SERIES! TOUCHING 'THE CHILDREN ACT' TRAILER WITH EMMA THOMPSON, STANLEY TUCCI

   HAILEE STEINFELD TO LEAD
EMILY DICKINSON TV SERIES!
The series will, sadly, be a comedy one
We've really had a great week announcing new period set projects and here's another one to finish it in the same vein: Hailee Steinfeld will lead Apple's costume series DICKINSON on the famous American poet, but it will be a half hour comedy series!

DICKINSON
will be set in the 1800's during Emily Dickinsons era with a modern sensibility and tone. It takes viewers into the world of Emily audaciously exploring the constraints of society, gender, and family from the perspective of a budding writer who doesnt fit in to her own time through her imaginative point of view. Dickinson is Emilys coming of age story one womans fight to get her voice heard. The series will join two sf series from Ronald D. Moore and Steven Knight that I've announced earlier!

  NEW 'MACBETH' MOVIE
Macbeth aired in UK cinemas in March
WITH MARK ROWLEY
Speaking of Shakespeare's works done in a new light, check out this one: MACBETH  entirely shot on green screen and reinvented by director Kit Monkman starring The Last Kingdom's Mark Rowley! Monkmans unique adaptation successfully bridges the gap between theatre and film by exploiting the capabilities of the green screen to portray the vast world of make-believe while maintaining the traditional values, language and themes of Shakespeares original theatrical play.
Super hunky Mark Rowley plays the lead role

A BRAVE NEW VISION OF THE OLD STORY
Brilliant young general MACBETH pulls off a glorious victory in battle before returning to an indolent court where honours are dispensed by whim. Spurred on by prophesying drifters and an ambitious wife, MACBETH sets his sights on the throne. In Kit Monkman's adventurous new adaptation, this compelling tale of unchecked ambition, soured friendship, lost intimacy and the descent into nihilism is encountered in a strange and claustrophobic territory partly conjured by the mind. The movie is currently available to stream and download on Amazon.

Keeley Hawes joins Jerusalem
KEELEY HAWES JOINS
  'JERU- SALEM' WW2 SERIES
Although everybody's fave Momma Durrell Keeley Hawes is to play British Home Secretary in new BBC series Bodyguard with our dearest Richard Madden, it seems she will rule politics in JERUSALEM as well over at Channel 4! She has just joined their new period set World War 2 series in which Emma Appleton plays a young woman who joins British civil service in 1945 and agrees to spy on her own government for the Americans. Luke Treadaway, Matt Lauria, Brandon P. Bell and Stephen Campbell Moore also star in the WW2 drama in which Keeley Hawes will play her exacting boss at the civil service, who becomes an unlikely role model of what a woman can achieve in a man's world. This means Keeley will have a series within the same year on each of UK's three biggest channels.

   EMMA THOMPSON TO PRODUCE
'HARROW ALLEY' 17TH CENTURY HORROR SERIES AT HBO
Emma will also write the small screen adaptation
Meanwhile, another great British thespian Emma Thompson will produce a period set horror TV series based on a long lost script HARROW ALLEY over at HBO! The story is set during the black plague in the 17th century and follows an English town as it deteriorates. It revolves around the fortunes of two men, likeable but lawless rogue Ratsey and well meaning alderman Harry, who are both trying to survive the dangers of the time. The script was originally written by classic Hollywood writer Walter Newman and is often, as 'Deadline' reports, used in film classes becoming in certain way legendary.
