ON THE BEACH by Michael Williams

 ON  THE  BEACH

by Michael Williams

At dawn, bare footed, viewing as far as eyes can reach,
the water's edge advances and recedes along the beach.

Before me I see a carpet of half-buried shells of sea-creatures,
tide washed and rippled in sodden sand along the beach.

I move, exploring, sodden sand oozing between my toes,
beyond me the wavelets breaking on the sand along the beach.

Behind me, my wandering trail is blurred and indistinct,
as the water's edge advances and recedes along the beach.

At mid-day, on the soft dry sand behind the water's edge,
undressed worshippers lie in the sun that beats down along the beach.

At night, the moon's reflection at the water's edge
resembles sea serpents playing in the wavelets along the beach.

BEAUTY AND THE BEACH by Faith Elizabeth Brigham

BEAUTY AND THE BEACH

by Faith Elizabeth Brigham

There is something about the ocean
that brings out the earth-mother in me
it is a place I love to go to write or
to ponder life's mysteries
being out in the ocean with
the waves spraying over me
feels something of a baptism
a cleansing of my soul's debris

the beach has a magnificent beauty
that never ceases to amaze me
and makes me feel one with the earth
in rhythmn and harmony
I realize as I look out to sea
how very small I really must be
in the overall scheme of things

I love the sea for it brings
out the spirituality in me
the feeling of being totally free
like seagulls overhead and
the sand underneath my feet
or the engulfing sun warming me
to get down to the nitty-gritty
the sea is a poet's paradise to me

THE SEA by Shirley Fudge

THE  SEA

by  Shirley Fudge

Gentle lulling of the sea,
Once again you beckon me.
Caressing waves upon the shore
Transporting me to years of yore.
As a child, your charm I sought,
Protecting me from battles fought.
Upon your craggy cliff I sat
To gaze in awe and wonder at
The magic of your shimmering tide
That restored ease and peace inside.

SUMMER SUN Robert Louis Stevenson

SUMMER  SUN

Robert Louis Stevenson

Great is the sun, and wide he goes
Through empty heaven with repose;
And in the blue and glowing days
More thick than rain he showers his rays.

Though closer still the blinds we pull
To keep the shady parlour cool,
Yet he will find a chink or two
To slip his golden fingers through.

The dusty attic spider-clad
He, through the keyhole, maketh glad;
And through the broken edge of tiles
Into the laddered hay-loft smiles.

Meantime his golden face around
He bares to all the garden ground,
And sheds a warm and glittering look
Among the ivy's inmost nook.

Above the hills, along the blue,
Round the bright air with footing true,
To please the child, to paint the rose,
The gardener of the World, he goes.

HOMEMADE VEGETABLE FRUIT JUICE

HOMEMADE VEGETABLE FRUIT JUICE

Vegetables and fruit go together so well in juices. If you are worried about including veggies, do not be - the fruits lend all the sweetness you need. Besides, both carrots and kale are actually pretty sweet, and they lend a lovely, earthy flavor that perfectly complements apples, oranges, and berries.

INGREDIENTS:

2 gala apples
2 large carrots
1 orange
3-4 large kale leaves
1 cup blackberries

DIRECTIONS:

Juice all ingredients into a large measuring cup or bowl.
Strain if you have a picky drinker who like thin juices.
Serve immediately.

SONNET FOR A SUNFLOWER by annaka

SONNET FOR A SUNFLOWER

by annaka

When depression begins to take its toll

I scavenge for earth, sun, and seed

I let it take root starting in my soul

A sunflower is all I need

Some days I can't get out of bed

But those are becoming rare

I have planted a meadow of sunflowers and let them spread

I look inside myself for happiness to bear

In the AM when the sun don't shine

I look to the window sill for a reminder

That I am lovely, I am divine

Like a sunflower, I make this world brighter

When darkness yields all the power

All it takes is one yellow flower

THE OCEAN - by B Gosling

THE OCEAN

by B Gosling

The waves trickle along my toes.
The soft ocean sprays across my nose.
The sand was compliant under my feet,
Exactly where the ocean and it decide to meet.

The water rose and enveloped around my shin.
The salt water numbing against the skin.
A shell drifted, caught in the tide,
A tiny crab adrift inside.

The water drifted up to my hips,
A million kisses from the ocean's lips.
A gentle caress from the deep blue,
Though it would've been better if it was from you...

The water enveloped around my waist.
A thousand tiny fingers around me laced.
The horizon calls, it beckons me
Out towards it, across the sea.
