On March 20, 1990, Sire Records released Vogue as the first single from Madonnas second soundtrack album, Im Breathless.

The song was written by Madonna with producer Shep Pettibone; it was recorded between December 1989 and January 1990; the music video was filmed by director David Fincher at The Burbank Studios on February 10 and 11 and premiered on MTV on March 29, 1990.

The song, inspired by the style of dance Madonna was introduced to at the New York City club Sound Factory, is about enjoying oneself on the dance floor, regardless of what others are thinking. Vogue was originally part of the Dick Tracy film soundtrack (which Madonna starred in), with the song later included in future Madonna albums.
