'CAN YOU EVER FORGIVE ME?'
HER GREATEST WORK, WILL BE HER BIGGEST CRIME!
The movie is out this October at awards time |
CAN YOU FORGIVE ME? is the true story of best selling celebrity biographer (and friend to cats) Lee Israel (Melissa McCarthy), who made her living in the 1970s and '80s profiling the likes of Katherine Hepburn, Tallulah Bankhead, Estee Lauder and journalist Dorothy Kilgallen. When Lee is no longer able to get published because she has fallen out of step with current tastes, she turns her art form to
deception (by stealing actual letters and papers from archives and libraries, replacing them with her forgeries) abetted by her loyal friend Jack (Richard E. Grant). She later on served a six month house arrest and wrote her own memoir bragging about her criminal deeds.
She forged hundreds of dead authors' letters before she got caught |
